Rachel and Josué’s story began in Miami in March 2021. Two Cuban kids who had each left the island at different times and under different circumstances somehow found themselves meeting in the same city that had become home to so many like them.

Rachel was born in Cuba but left at the age of three. She spent ten years in Mexico before moving to Miami at 13, where she built her life, career, and independence. Josué arrived in Miami at 15, beginning his own journey from Cuba and learning to adapt to a new world as a teenager.

Years later, their paths crossed, and from the very first connection, there was something undeniably natural between them, like two lives that were always meant to find each other.

At first, they told friends a little white lie about meeting through a mutual friend who played cupid. The truth was more modern: they met on Tinder.

Josué swiped right because Rachel seemed like the total package. Extroverted, a family girl, down-to-earth, and those curls and curves? Right up his alley.

From that first match, they started talking, and life just kept bringing them back to one another. What truly sealed the connection was Josué’s grand gesture — driving 16 hours straight from Washington, DC to Miami just to take Rachel out on a proper date.

What was meant to be a short trip turned into over a year together in Miami, filled with love, laughter, and the kind of joy that only comes from finding your person.

Together they built a life that was equal parts adventure and home.

They traveled, shared late-night talks, cooked together, and formed a little family with Sydney, Rachel’s Bichon Frise. Sydney had been Rachel’s baby long before Josué came into the picture, but from the start, he stepped in as Dad.

On September 4, 2024, while on a two-week trip to Spain, Josué planned the proposal of a lifetime. Pretending they were headed to a wine tasting, he led Rachel into Madrid’s Parque El Retiro, through the arches of La Rosaleda. There, in front of Cupid’s Fountain, with music playing and strangers watching, he asked her to marry him. Rachel said yes.

A year later, on July 25, 2025, they made it official with a courthouse ceremony in Miami, surrounded by close family. It was simple, heartfelt, and perfect — a beautiful beginning to the next chapter.

Now, they’re planning the wedding of their dreams, a destination celebration in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico in September 2026.

For Rachel and Josué, Puerto Rico isn’t just a wedding destination. It’s a place that feels like home away from home, a land that mirrors their Cuban roots with its music, warmth, and history, while also embracing the life they’ve built together in the U.S.

La historia de Rachel y Josué comenzó en Miami en marzo de 2021. Dos cubanos que habían salido de la isla en distintos momentos y bajo diferentes circunstancias terminaron encontrándose en la misma ciudad que se había convertido en hogar para tantos como ellos.

Rachel nació en Cuba, pero salió a los tres años. Pasó diez años en México antes de mudarse a Miami a los 13, donde construyó su vida, su carrera y su independencia. Josué llegó a Miami a los 15 años, comenzando su propio recorrido desde Cuba y aprendiendo a adaptarse a un nuevo mundo en plena adolescencia.

Años después, sus caminos se cruzaron, y desde esa primera conexión hubo algo naturalmente especial entre ellos, como dos vidas que siempre estaban destinadas a encontrarse.

Al principio contaban una pequeña mentirita, diciendo que se habían conocido gracias a una amiga que hizo de cupido. La verdad era más moderna: se conocieron en Tinder.

Lo que realmente consolidó la conexión fue el gran gesto de Josué: manejar 16 horas seguidas desde Washington, DC hasta Miami solo para invitar a Rachel a salir.

Lo que debía ser un viaje corto se convirtió en más de un año juntos en Miami, lleno de recuerdos, viajes y la certeza de que habían encontrado el amor de sus vidas.

Juntos construyeron una vida que era igual parte aventura e igual parte hogar.

Viajaron, compartieron risas infinitas y formaron una familia con Sydney, la Bichon Frise de Rachel. Sydney era su bebé antes de conocer a Josué, quien rápidamente se convirtió también en su papá.

El 4 de septiembre de 2024, durante un viaje de dos semanas a España, Josué planeó cuidadosamente la propuesta de su vida. Fingiendo que iban a una cata de vinos, llevó a Rachel al Parque del Retiro de Madrid, hasta los arcos de La Rosaleda. Frente a la Fuente de Cupido, con música sonando y extraños alrededor, le pidió matrimonio. Rachel dijo que sí.

Un año después, el 25 de julio de 2025, lo hicieron oficial con una ceremonia civil en el courthouse de Miami, rodeados de su familia más cercana. Fue simple, sincero y perfecto, un momento íntimo que honró el amor que ya habían construido y el nuevo capítulo que comenzaba.

Ahora están planeando la boda de sus sueños, una celebración en San Juan, Puerto Rico, en septiembre de 2026.

Para Rachel y Josué, Puerto Rico es mucho más que un destino de boda.
